Photo caption, written by Dave Roche:
This photo is historic because it has many famous performers from the world of disability culture (at least the English speaking world.) All of us were at the Above and Beyond Festival in Cheltenham, England. Canada’s Alan Shain is to my right. Irked’s good friend, the legendary Kiwi Philip Patston, is in his chair to my left. “Seal Boy” Mat Fraser is standing to my far left. My neighbor from BC, Victoria Maxwell is behind me with the UK’s Julie McNamara to Victoria’s right. Holding the white cane is Tony Boyle from Adelaide alongside Liz Navratil from Queensland. Maybe Irked readers could help identify others whose names are not as clear in my memory as their performances. It was a great festival and I do not think that this group ever gathered before or since or maybe ever again.
(Stay tuned to Irked for more “How I Appear” columns soon!)

Oh what a great memory – my first trip back to my homeland and a fantastic festival – the brainchild of the lovely Moya Harris. Can’t remember other names but it’s Tony Doyle (not Boyle – that’s Susan!)…
