Abilities Arts Festival is a disability arts organization that promotes diversity, inclusiveness and the enrichment of the cultural fabric of our communities. Since 2003, the Abilities Arts Festival has added a new dimension to Toronto, Canada’s diverse arts scene by showcasing the work of artists with disabilities. Abilities Arts Festival events promote diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Their dynamic and powerful artistic presentations entertain, engage, enlighten, provoke, and positively impact attitudes. Art becomes a transforming medium that creates opportunities, alters perspectives, and engages audiences in unique artistic experiences. The Abilities Arts Festival promotes an inclusive and vibrant arts and culture sector: one that is shaped by the full breadth of creative expressions.
Calling all Disabled Filmmakers:
The 2009 Abilities Arts Festival is fast approaching and they are now accepting submissions for the Projections Film Forum. The Abilities Arts Festival is seeking works by filmmakers with disabilities that exemplify excellence, innovation and creativity in film. Films that provoke, enlighten and offer diverse perspectives. Films that are innovative and entertaining. There is no entry fee to submit your work! They welcome submissions of features, documentaries, or animation films that are either feature-length or shorts. The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2009. This year’s film forum will be taking place over two days: Thursday, October 8, 2009 and Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Toronto.
